How to make multiple iTunes backups on your computer?

Every know that iTunes only keep one backup created during the sync process for each device. It always to overwrite your last backup when you make an iTunes backup every time. When you want to restore from a backup that made in past 6 month, you can’t choose multiple backup like Time Machine.

Now we deal with this problem just two steps.

Step 1: Find your iTunes backup location on your computer.

  • Windows OS: C:\Users\~\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

  • Mac OS X: /Users/~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

Step 2: Enter your iTunes backup location. If you have made a iTunes backup before there, just rename this “backup” directory with current date to tag your backup. Then connect your iOS device to iTunes and make a new backup. I usually rename “backup” directory and make a new backup before I update my iPhone iOS version each time.

When you has finished the iTunes backup, there are multiple backups in your backup location now. But you can’t see them all in your iTunes backup list, just only recently one.

How to use those old backups to restore.

It’s very simple, just as same as before. We rename the latest “backup” directory with current date, and change back old backup to normal backup name. For sample, change “2015-03-20 Backup” to “Backup”.

It will never limit the quality of your backups unless your computer free space is not enough.
